Torch making commenced on 13 October 2010. Richard Wemyss very kindly allowed further use of the torchmaking shed for
the 2011 SMUHA. Of the torches left over from the 2010 SUMHA - 36 were previously cemented & steeped - and 85 were
repaired for use in 2011. A total of 538 were made by 19 January 2011.

Torch Cementing took place during the evening of 26th February 2011. In just over 2 hours all the torch head bases were cemented to prevent burn through
of the torch handle at the torch head. Following the cementing 'refreshments' were provided for those attending until the early hours of the following morning.
Torch steeping took place on Thursday 10th March 2011. During the course of the day the torch boys soaked all the torches in parrafin ready for use the
following day at the evening procession.
