2010 SMUHA Torchmaking
Some of the SMUHA committee and interested helpers attended a torch-making master class, courtesy of the Lerwick Up Helly
Aa torch boys, at the galley shed in Lerwick. The support, knowledge and enthusiasm of the Lerwick torch boys was invaluable.
They also allowed SUMHA to borrow their containers for torch-steeping and provided marshals for the occasion.
Richard Wemyss kindly provided premises for the torch-making and over the course of the winter 501 torches were made.
